Relay Information

NEW for 2014. Marathon Relay

REGISTER

Register online for the 2014 Marathon Relay.

TEAMS

Teams are 2 to 4 runners. The relay follows the Top of Utah Marathon course and the relay runners run with the marathon runners.

Cost

The cost for a team is $225.00 per team.

TEAM CAPTAIN

The Team Captain registers all members of the team and gives the team a name.

TEAM DIVISIONS

Teams can be either all female, all male, or a mixed team.

LEG ONE

Leg One goes from start to approximately mile 7.3, at the Hyrum Electrial Plant up Blacksmith Fork Canyon.

LEG TWO

Leg Two goes from mile 7.3 to approximately mile 14, at the mouth of Blacksmith Fork Canyon.

LEG THREE

Leg Three goes from mile 14 to mile 21, the Providence Zollinger Park, in Providence, Utah.

LEG FOUR

Leg Four goes from mile 21 to the finish, mile 26.2, the Merlin Olsen Park in Logan, Utah.

CONTINUE TO RUN

After a relay runner finishes their leg they many continue to run with their team to the next stage or to the finish line.

Fee Schedule

  • $225 for entries postmarked November 1, 2013 to August 1, 2014.
  • $250 for entries postmarked August 2, 2014 to September 1, 2014.
  • $275 for entries postmarked September 2, 2014 to September 19, 2014.
  • No race-day registration.
  • $15 for extra T-Shirts, $18 if you want the shirt mailed.
  • $10 for pasta dinner prepaid. $6 for children 12 and under prepaid. Ages 3 and under free. $2 extra if paying at the door.
  • $5 if you want results mailed to your home.

Pasta Loading

This will be held at the Marriott, SpringHill, Elements Restaurant (Apx. 600 S. Main, in Logan), where the packet pickup and vendor expo are also held. You can sign up during registration or anytime after you have registered. Dinners can be purchased at the door as long as there is space.

Packet Pickup and Vendor Expo

Packets can be picked up between 5:00pm and 9:00pm on Friday (the evening before the marathon) at the Marriott, SpringHill Elements Restaurant (Apx. 600 S. Main, in Logan). Packets can also be picked up on Saturday morning, between 4:30am and 5:20am at Merlin Olsen Park, where the buses take runners to the start of the race.

Mailed Race Results

When you register you can choose to have the race results mailed to your home address. There is a $5.00 fee.

Extra T-Shirts

Extra T-Shirts. When you register you get one t-shirt with your registration. If you want extra t-shirts they are available for $15 or $18 if you want the shirt mailed.

Time Limit

We allow runners 6 hours of support to complete the marathon. After 6 hours the aid stations and police support are pulled from the course but runners are welcome to continue on their own.

Weather

This time of year has perfect running weather in Utah. The temperatures at start will be on an average 40 degrees, quickly warming up to between 50 and 70 degrees by the finish line. However, Utah September storms can bring snow at high elevations (like the 2000 marathon) so be prepared for whatever the weather brings. Generally the weather is nice this time of year.

Road Closure

The organizers have been working with UDOT (Utah Division of Transportation), the Highway Patrol, and the Forest Service on road closure. The canyon will be completely closed down from 5:00am on Saturday until all runners have cleared the canyon Spectators may begin viewing the race at mile 14. Once out of the canyon, one to two lanes will be closed down for the runners.

BIBS for Relay Members

There will be different bib colors to distinquish relay runners from the marathon runners. This helps with organzation issues.

Aid Stations

There will be Aid Stations at the different stage exchanges. Tents will be provided.

Bus Transportation

Relay runners will have their own buses. There will be buses provided to take runners to each stage and then from the stage to the finish line. More information will be coming about bus pickup, etc.

Vehicles

No personal support vehicles, baby strollers, roller blades, bicycles, motorcycles will be allowed on the course.

Relay Runners Receive

Long sleeve t-shirt, finisher's medallion, bus transportation to start, pre and post drinks and fruit, and you get to run one of the most scenic marathons in the country.

Awards

The awards ceremony will start around 1:15pm on Saturday, in the park by the finish line, and will feature the following awards:.

Moose medallions for everyone who finishes.

Moose trophies to top finishers in each age group.
  • Awards will be given 5 deep for the female teams, male teams, and mixed teams. Only one trophy per team.

Sports Drink

Gatorade is the official sports drink for the NordicTrack Top of Utah Marathon for the 2014 year.
